Backlit Bathroom Mirror: How to Choose Without Regret

An LED mirror for the bathroom: types of lighting, anti-fog, sensors, IP44 protection. How to choose the size and shape, and how much a custom backlit mirror costs.

A backlit mirror stopped being a luxury long ago: an LED strip along the contour provides even, shadow-free light — exactly what you need for makeup, shaving and morning routines. But between "looks nice" and "convenient every day" lie several technical nuances.

Types of Lighting: Contour or Front-Light

Color temperature: 4000K — neutral white, the optimum for a bathroom. 3000K — warm "living room" light. Practically all backlit mirrors come with a dimmer and a temperature setting.

Anti-Fog Is a Must

A heating film or pad behind the mirror eliminates fogging after a hot shower. It works automatically with the lighting and consumes little power. Do not skimp on this option: the comfort difference is enormous.

Controls and Electronics

Safety: IP44 Protection

A bathroom is a wet zone, so all electronic components must have **IP44 protection or higher**, and the wiring must go through an RCD. Market mirrors without moisture protection are a common cause of short circuits.

Size and Shape

A horizontal rectangle is the universal choice above the sink (width = the cabinet width or slightly more). A round one is an interior trend that works great in pairs. A full-height vertical mirror — for walk-in closets and bedrooms. Non-standard shapes (asymmetry, rounded corners, cutouts for outlets) are made to order from drawings.

How Much It Costs

Custom prices: rectangular — from ₽15,000, round — from ₽15,500, full-height vertical — from ₽50,000, asymmetric from drawings — from ₽16,500. The price includes the LED contour, anti-fog and touch controls.
